Help with iTunes

i have a windows xp and we jsut restored our computer to factory settings. When I downloaded iTunes, the setup went fine, but when I tried to open the actual program, it read this:

"iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.

If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost."

I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it over and over again, but it still doesn't work.
Anyone have any advice? If not, you have any programs let you sync your iPod without iTunes?

Fair enough.

The answer though is to try RealPlayer, works for me.

I haven't used real player for ages since it used to try to take over all my media settings upon installation. Does it still do that?

There's a site I really want to see videos from occasionally, but they use rp and that was always the deal breaker for me.

@Shady: not only fair but i detected that bot within 1 second.

If you're unsure you search on google with double-quotes and a phrase within.

Example: "windows xp and we jsut restored our computer to factory settings"
Result: SpyWare BeWare! -> Help with iTunes

The trick was easy since it has a badly spelled word in it "jsut"
All google results resulted in (vBulletin only) forum posts on several websites using different usernames and different spam links.

Since i'm on the web for almost 20 years it is easy for me to detect, but not for others.

I hope this help you to use the wisely and more-often

Thanks DJMaze, I'll be able to spot them more easily now

I seem to remember that there is a captcha check upon signing up, how do they get around that?

I'm soon opening up my wiki to the world and I'll have to think about stuff like this.

Image recognition - it's quite a bit of a cottage industry for spammers. Most CAPTCHAs for common software packages (such as vBulletin) or popular sites have been broken. The best thing I've come across is a "prove you're human" field in the signup section. Basically, it's a custom field where you ask a question that any human could answer, say "What's 4 x 4?", and check to make sure the answer is "16". But the idea is that it's different for almost every forum, so there's no way to programmatically defeat it like they do with common CAPTCHA systems. Unless you have a site that people are specifically targeting, it'll basically make you immune to robots.
