export outlook express contacts
I have a case where I've exported contacts (in outlook express address book type) from Outlook Express but when they are imported into either Windows Mail (Vista) or Outlook Express all the folders are gone.
This means that all the contacts are all jumbled into the address book. Is there a way to specifically tell the program (Outlook Express or Windows Mail) to separate them? I mean... when I export from a Microsoft mail program and import into a Microsoft mail program I'd expect something simple like folders to be there. There are hundreds of contacts and doing it manually will be tedious and difficult because some are old contacts or newsletter contacts.
Any ideas? I have access to the full address book exported file as well as the following programs: Outlook Express, normal Outlook, and Windows Mail.
Thanks!
dazz.

I just got an idea:
install Firebird and let it import Outlook.
install Firebird on Vista and import Firebird stuff from the old PC.

DJMaze: Thanks for the idea. I had tried importing the .wab exported file into Thunderbird to see what would happen, but it seemed like it only wanted to take Outlook settings from the program on my computer (no option to choose a file to import).
In any case, I appreciate you guys trying. I'm not sure if there's a resolution to this besides better programmed MS programs or more careful exporting of contacts (ie: folder by folder or via another format) in the future.
