Post Windows 98 networking problem

In a small-med business office there are at least 10-20 PCs networked through a large switch; most with WinXP Home but a few with Vista and Win98.

On one of the Win98 machines I've been made aware of a printing problem. This Win98 computer has printed fine on the network for months and months but now when the user tries to print he gets this message:

I checked the Printers Folder and the printer is set to Work Offline. When I try to right click and uncheck "Use Printer Offline" I get the message:
Printers: Cannot connect to this network printer. Make sure your network is working properly and that the network share you are connected to exist.
The printer the user is attemping to print to is a large office printer attached to the LAN (not shared through another computer).

So I try to add a new printer, really just the same one again for a fresh install, but I get the message when I click on "+ Entire Network":

So the problem is that the Win98 computer isn't connected to the LAN/network. It can web browse fine, and other computers can see this computer, but it cannot access other network components any more.

Can anyone help me with the settings I need to adjust here? I unplugged the Win98 comp and plugged my WinXP laptop into the same port and successfully printed to the same printer; so I doubt it's the path.

Any ideas? Thanks,
dazz.

God, I don't hardly remember Windows 98 to tell you the truth. Does 98 have the option of "Simple File Sharing" like XP? If so, turn this off, and if there is any firewall software installed, try disabling
