Where Do You Recommend To Start?

I started learning C++, but decided it was too big of a jump...so I tried my hand at Java, and it was still a bit too overwhelming. I know HTML, and Q-BASIC (only programming class at my high school).

I was thinking I'd go ahead and learn JavaScript, just because it's handy...but then what? My ultimate goal is to learn and master C++. PHP/mySQL? Perl? Python? So many options

What are you expecting in the C\C++ Section?:p
Making the leap between QBasic and C++ is quite difficult
(speaking out of experience), So i suggest you take it as low
as possible and start out with a "Hello World" C++ Console App.
There's a Hello World Tutorial in the tutorial section.

I got along OK until multiple functions and classes, then my brain imploded. I think I'm just spoiled by the relative ease of HTML/BASIC; C++ is just a little harder

That's probably because in QBasic you always knew what the
program was doing, What piece of code it was at. In C++ you'll
need to think more abstract, You can impossible track the flow
of the program. To be hounest, I can't think of a tutorial that
can teach you that.

this is an ebook that is distributed free there is a print version. I haven't checked it out myself as of yet but it should be worth atleast checking out for you.

C/C++ is very complex to understand and learn but it is one of the most powerful languages in computing today.

I agree with Travis Dane. You will have to do a lot of abstract thinking. OOP, imo, is quite more powerful than procedural programming. but, they both have pros and cons.

of course, classes will be difficult at first. nothing comes easy, but with some work, you'll get there. just keep practicing like the old cliche of 'practice makes perfect'.

check out some books, there are many e-books out there. books will be your friend. but, practice, practice, practicel; and the only way to practice is to code.

Might want to try perl. It will give you alot of the basic syntax of ... well ... every programming language outside of the pascal and basic families. It really alot like basic in that it goes really easy on you if you get the syntax right, but that might be a probelm as you can easily get additicted to it's easy going attitude on variable types and strings especially. I did and as a result i have a ton of problems with c strings and structs.

Though i really have little use for c i want to learn it so i know at least one decent gui language.
