Alrighty then, no one I guess is going to say C++ is not a good tool for my goal still. Next on the plate: how are compilers stacking up lately? I recall mention of some "blocks" compiler, and ofcourse there is the old faithful of DevC++. Any others out there that might warrant attention?

Opinions count also. =+} Heh, I was doing fairly well with DevC++ until I dinked around with some of the libraries, never could get it working very well after that. =+}

Whichever developer works well for you and you're comfortable with is the one you should use. I use several different compilers depending on what type of project I am currently working on. Borland, .NET, DevC++ are all viable choices. Just make sure if you decide to play around with DirectX you get the libraries associated with them. I'm sure you can get the latest SDK from the Microsoft website and be sure to include them in the path of your libraries in your IDE otherwise you'll get linker errors.

A friend of mine actually made a space shooting game for a class he was taking, he wrote it in Java over the course of about a week or so. I'll try to find a link to it to give you some ideas.

My thanks again. So no leaps and bounds in compilers lately, works for me. I guess I can tool around with Code::Blocks to see if I like it vs DevC++. Time to start downloading compilers! =+}

Thanks again!

Got a little confused by the linux version of Code::Blocks in regards to package requires for installation. I'm using Ubuntu 6.10 currently, so if someone would be so kind as to hum a few bars and point me in the right direction. =+}

Think of it like a clown face that is half frown and half grin. I use that whenever I state something that does not reflect my usual goofy grinning =+}, nor is it sad or bad enough to warrant my sad clown face =+{.

Hope I didn't just confuse you more. =+} or

And I was correct, there are a slew or inspections that start tomorrow and keep rolling well into August. I'm gonna be an over worked and underpaid 'lil beaver for a while. =+}
