C++ Compiler??

I have searched the NET for over 5 months and still can't find a FREE c++ compiler. Does this exist? Do people actually code in c++ without paying over $17,000 for the software? Am I living in a Fantasy Land, to believe that I can get a free c++ Compiler?

Please help me out. I need a FREE c++ Compiler. Someone has to know where one is, as I am slowly losing my mind and falling loosely into a Suicidal State of Euphoria.

Thank you, and I will be awaiting your replies which will guide me to a Location where I can download a FREE c++ Compiler.

If you chose he correct search term with google it would even give you a decent output.

I endorse DevCPP, the one redhead mentioned.
I also highly endorse Code::Blocks .
Both are ISO compliant compilers with fully integrated IDE + visual debugger. And it's all free!

I haven't really looked for free stuff. I'm sure you can find one. However, I got my Borland C++ BuilderX Personal Edition (fully featured and current) for a mere 25 bucks. It came in a book that i have been using to teach myself the language. You could get a book from the library that has a compiler with it.

Visual C++ Express is free for at least a few more months.

The Digital Mars compiler is also free, and I believe it can be integrated into Code::Blocks and/or other IDEs.

The Express versions are indeed available for free still (just downloaded C# the other night), and frankly I'd highly recommend them.

Sign up for the ADC Online membership, which should get you access to XCode.

XCode is the free Apple IDE that uses gcc and g++ as the C/C++ compilers. Not the best compilers out there, but definitely the compilers on the most platforms.

dev c++ gets my vote for being a decent free compiler for c and c++ and I am not sure what else it can do as of yet.
