end of line function

i have two files and as i am working with my first file... i want to "cout" a message everytime i reach the first file's end of line.... how exactly do i do that?

i heard of eol.... but it doesn't work...

What type of contence is there in the file? is it a text file or a binary?
Usualy you would use getline() but if it's binary, then you can't be sure the delimiter getline() is looking for is exactly the end of line in the file.

Am I mistaken in thinking you're dealing with two files?
What's the second one? (Not that it matters.)

Does this file have an incredibly long line length?
Can you just use getline?

If possible, an example of the first text file might help.
