Compiler Question

Thanks for the confirmation and comment tip. Perhas you can answer this question also, Valmont;
I wish to write programs that are non-specific to any particular system, yet I also wish to use the full potential available of c/c++. Am I just using an out of date compiler (Borland c++ ver 1.1 I think). As I do admit to having errors when I tried using the DevC++ ver 4.
I truly appreciate your help and advice.
Thanks!

Umm... This was supposed to be part of the "array tutorials?" thread. How I messed it up to get here is just a part of the Chaos Effect that follows me I guess.
Can one of you admin folk move this back over to the propper spot? Sorry 'bout this.
Thanks...
