a lot of times while preparing to make a program, .. i do make flow charts based on the uml models .. i don't go very in depth as the uml specifies, but i do outline classes, functions, and variables.

I data flow diagrams and use cases more than anything else, occasionally I'll draw a class diagram or a state diagram but generally speaking I live by the rule that "The code is the design."

I haven't used those in years....

I use a lot of UML...Use Cases, Class Diagrams, Structure Sequence Diagrams, CRC Cards, Robustnesss Analysis Diagrams...i'm sure there are more, but thats off the top of my head.

Depends on how complicated the program is. Mostly I use them when tutoring programming students so they have a visual for what is going on/ or should be, with their programs.

I use UML only after reverse engineering a project. My job is mainly adding stuff. So i reverse engineer it to check ifI understood the current big picture.
