ok smartazz. i'm really happy you can appreciate what was actually going on there.

i was kinda suprised it worked so easily on windows. i'm using xp-home edition here at work, and i just installed php, & gtk-php in about 5 minutes, .. rebooted and it worked.

this probably isn't the best place to say this, but i'll be the first to admit that i use windows more than i use linux. xp isn't my first choice, but win2kpro is.

win2kpro with the latest service packs is the most stable and versitile o/s i've run. i'm not just comparing to linux, i'm comparing to mac os 9 and X too. .. although X is basically bsd.

i need windows for my quick and dirty work related to web programming/design.. most specifically graphics and text editing. also use win2k for all my gaming. i run several game servers on linux.. half-life doesn't have linux clients yet. even if they did, i'd probably still game on windows.

i use my mac for graphics sometimes, but it's main purpose is audio/video/flash dev. i haven't found a text editor for mac that i really enjoy using just yet. i'm hooked on ultra-edit.

my day job also requires me to know a lot about audio programs that run on pc/mac platform. ( because the big companies don't support linux yet... even OSX .. except emagic who is owned by apple )

anyway, windows is essention.. quit making fun of me

Dang, how many comps do you have?

Ilya

P.S. I like Mac as well, the school ones are crappy though and crash every hour.
