best way to store a passwords

i might be setting up a website for my part time job soon. one thing i definatly want to make sure, is that the managers log in passwords are stored in the most secured manner, so no one could easily get them and mass spam every customer. well, what do you think its the best and most secure. secondly, i know this isn't the msql thread, but i'm assuming, that the answer to that question is going to involve mysql in someway. in the past i've done all my sites with flat file, how hard would it be to set up a site using mysql databases. id like to get it done in under a month, given that i don't need to do anything to elaborate, i think i can pull if off if learning all the mysql i'm gonna need in a couple of days. how hard is the transition gonna be

I would suggest to use Salt in a combination with SHA1 pretty much what we discussed in your last thread regarding passwords

Readingthe Storing passwords - done right article might give you some idears.

If you're accostum to the routine of writing/reading files, it's not much different with quering a database, you retrieve the data which matches, run through it in a loop and do with the found data as you see fit, very much like you would with a flat file.
It's just different function-calls you'd use.
