Reconnecting to SQL database

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to a problem Im having.
The first time I connect to the database all is fine, but when I reconnect to the same database I get error:
Code:
Warning: odbc_connect() [function.odbc-connect]: SQL error: Connection to
relational database [] already exists., SQL state 08002?Connection to
relational database [] already exists
Is there a global setting for disconnect after usage I can check..This would be on an apache server on an IBM Iseries?

any help would be appreciated.

thanks
Jimmy

are you calling odbc_close() when you are done with the connection?

there's also an odbc_pconnect() for a persistant connection. i've only used odbc connections with php once a very long time ago
