I see. Well, I don't use tables, I use divs. I'm not saying one is better than the other. On any account, if seperating the file confuses you with opening and closing tags for tables, I suggest using comments. Comments are your friends.

I'm designing an application that lays things out on a page in a particular way the user wants them to be according to thier preferred template. If the templates aren't satisfactory then I want them coded in such as way that even a novice can re-lay them. In that case then setting thier location using css positioned div layers is out of the question.
I think i know a way how you could set this up where you could have the templates generated after the picked several options, and set there preffered layout in a cookie, which your page will check for a cookie and if it exists then display their preffered layout, if it doesnt exist then it would display the default one. if you give more information on your project i could definatly help you with you.

Thanks man I'll let you know. I'm currently throwing alot of ideas around right now and nothing's in stone.

BTW the layout should be set by admin - not user!

unless i misread, you siad you wanted it set up where if the user finds the layout unsatisfactory for them, then they can relay lay certian things on the site in a way they preffer. right?

Well I would have ment the admin. And now that idea has been scrapped for now.

I don't even know what project I'll be doing yet so that won't come into play just yet.

I don't know what commercial package to develop... I think I need to do some research on which trade requires automatatic website deploying CMS and other things like inventory control and output portability.

The initial idea was an online newspaper publishing app that ranged from a hobby blog to a whole corporate professional newspaper.

ANybody got any ideas? Any insight to how I could also go about doing this market research? (I should probably do this in a new topic but bleh )

EDIT: Of course I wouldn't be starting it just yet! I want to code lots of functions that could all be bound together to form that project but first I need to know what direction I wanna take. For example if for that newspaper project I'd need to design what it would take then code the functions that would seem needed.
