how to test PHP

OK, I am new to PHP and have some samples I want to test and change to understand more of. What is the easiest way to test on my PC without having to upload to a webserver I am running on two PCs on with WinXP and the other Win2000. Also I have downloaded Notepad+ for the editing which seems pretty good, but is there anything better out there?
Cheers

sounds like you have it under control. your editor is a personal preference, .. i like ultra edit. just make sure whatever you use has line numbering.

feel free to stop by and ask questions anytime =) .. welcome to the site!

Hello,

The first thing that I did to learn PHP was on Windows XP Pro I installed Windows IIS that came with it through Add/Remove Windows Components and then downloaded appropriate programs (PHP, MySQL, etc.)

That was pretty good to start off since you can code PHP on a Windows box and still use the scripts on a Unix/Linux box.

Good luck

I volunteered for a starting CMS project and now I'm boosting through PHP/MySQL with exception to my recent trouble... eurghh
