php 5 problem

I downloaded php 5 today and installed it as a module for apache 2.
For some reason it stops executing when it runs into an include statement (which in the updates they claimed they fixed this).
It also stops when it runs into a mysql query, is there any known way to fix this?
I think I installed the newest version of php 5, I downloaded it from php.net

Do you receive any errors?

in your php.ini, check the following settings:

error_reporting  =  E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE
display_errors = on
display_startup_errors = on

that was another strange thing. In my phpInfo() it said that C:\WINNT\php.ini was where my ini file was, so I went and set everything up just as I wanted it (I set those error settings on too), but then when I ran phpInfo() nothing had changed, it didn't load any of the extensions that I setup in the ini, nothing.

At any rate my day yesterday had already been filled with a lot of frustration, also, there was only one function that php5 had that I wanted, and I remade it on my own anyway. I just went ahead and reinstalled 4.3.7.

After editing your php.ini file, did you restart Apache?
