Tips on writing your tags & keywords!

Keywords in Body Text
Have your Webmaster structure the text on your homepage around your one most important keyword phrase. Emphasize that main keyword phrase in the first paragraph and in your main and sub headlines.

Key Words in Text Links
When creating textual links, try to make the link a keyword since the text within a link is sometimes weighed more heavily than words found in the regular body text.

Keywords in Alt Tags
The alt tag defines the text to display for a graphic if the user has graphics turned off. Some search engines will look for keywords in the alt tags so it is good to have your Webmaster set the alt tags with keywords.

Keywords in Header Text
Always opt for header content as opposed to a larger font when the text contains a keyword. Header content is considered more descriptive of what is actually on the page so it is weighed more heavily by the search engines.

Keyword Frequency
Frequency is how often a keyword appears on the page or in an area on the page. Try to have your one primary keyword phrase appear a total of 5 to 15 times in all the visible areas of the page. This would include 1 time in the title area, 1 to 5 times in the body text area, 1 to 3 times in the link text area, 1 to 4 times in the alt text area, and 1 to 5 in the header text area.

GoodLuck

thanks .. that reminds me .. i gotta add some meta tags to codenewbie . hehe. . .

all that is very accurate information .. unfortunately i hate heading tags for text .. it looks so ugly and so un-exact when sizing against other text and your site layout. perhaps there's a way around it , or maybe i just have to work with them more.

one thing i didn't see there is comments. <!-- comments with keywords --> weigh up on search engines to.

the title of the webpage is also something that should be in your keywords ..

now the more places one word or phrase is, the better it will weigh . such as the title of my page is "my website" .. then i have the phrase "my website" in the keywords .. then i have <!-- my website --> in the comments somewhere .. then i have a header font tag that is <h1>my website</h1> then i have a link with an alt image <img src="#" alt="my website"> .. etc... they like it to be in as many elements of your site as possible.

anyhow, .. nice topic .. maybe this should be a web development thread =)

thanks for tips on a great subject .. one that is often overlooked and one of which the power is under-estimated.

Agree'd a website's success hinges on it's engine rank & link popularity (vs. mega bucks on advertising)

* wasn't sure what forum to start this thread. feel free to
move it on over LOL

Found this cool 'keyword density tool' it's free !!

To test the value of your keyword density use this tool:

http://www.webjectives.com/keyword.htm

1. Type in your URL and the keyword or phrase you would like to check the density for.

2. Click the "analyze" button.

Now you need to know what sites are generating the best search engine rankings based on the keyword of your choice, compared to your site. To find out, we suggest you use this free analysis tool:

http://www.ixquick.com/

Now return to the keyword density analyzer noted above to review the keyword density of a site that scored well on IxQuick. Your final step is to view the source of the site that scored higher than you to determine steps you can take to mimic its properties.

More Engine NUM'R's

DoorWay Pages TIPS
What are doorway pages?

Doorway Pages are optimized to make entry to the search engines easy. These are also known as “gateway”, “bridge”, “entry”, “jump” or “supplemental” pages. These pages stand apart from the main site but provide link to the main page.

What are the advantages of Doorway Pages?

They are especially designed to achieve higher ranking in the search engines & conform to individual ranking formula adopted by each search engine. Doorway Pages are usually designed to emphasize a single topic/keyword in order to keep the relevancy of the web page very high. I would plainly put it this way “Doorway Pages are used to improve the ranking in the search engines so that the site gets more traffic & subsequently generates more profits.”

Now let us analyze what points should be kept in mind while writing a doorway page.

1. First step is to choose a keyword/topic you wish to target. It is always advisable to focus on one keyword rather the two keywords. For example you are selling both “Mercedes” & “Benz” it would not be of much help to you if you are writing about both of them at the same page. Equally representing them would lower the scoring of the other & vice-versa. On the other hand if you write specifically about “Mercedes” search engine will know that the page is about “Mercedes” & will score higher on this keyword rather than having a page with both keywords in it.
2. Use keywords to make meaningful phrases. You can use one of these phrases as the title. Keep the title around 100 characters.
3. Take the teaching or information approach. Example how to, tips, tutorial, guide to.
4. Place keywords in the title, description & body.
5. Try to make your description interesting as possible. Keep around 150 characters.
4. The doorway page should be keyword-intensive. Use 6-7 keywords. (one or two in the title, 3 or 4 in the description and a few scattered in the body)
5. Keyword should be used at the beginning & end of the doorway page.
6. It should have high keyword density. Keyword density means the percentage of keywords in relation with other words used in the content of doorway page.
7. The whole doorway page should be arranged in the correct format with the correct sequence and form an article. DIY Web Kit automatically checks the right format
of Meta title tag, Meta Description Tag & Meta Keywords Tag.

8. It should close with a reference & link to the main site.
9. Do not submit more than 5 pages per domain per day to one search engine.
Wait about 4 weeks. Then check for your site & specifically your keywords.
10. You would have to design a different page for each search engine since
each weighs the various factors differently.

Beware! Search-engines might ban you if you are optimizing a doorway page for keywords that have no relevance to the page they are intended for. If you are tricking the Search-engines to get traffic to your site, it is considered a spam.
Checking the right format of meta-tags, then submitting your doorway pages, checking your placement then reoptimizing & resubmitting-it can be quite tedious process.

perhaps i should make a Newbie Users Manual on how to create a NUM =)

thanks sitetutor =) now here is how to do it:

Look at the top navigation where it says "main , news , forum, n.u.m., contact."

click on NUM

click "Add NUM" (you must be logged in to do this.. you probably already are.)

then just post the exact same thing you posted on the very first post if this thread!! that is perfect.

thanks a lot =) if you need help, .. let me know.
