http://www.gamestudies.org/0202/wright/

Quote:
Our project is an attempt to understand the social character of online FPS games, best represented by the PC mod for the game Half-Life, Counter-Strike. However, this paper will only focus on a particular subcategory of creative player actions practiced by those that engage in this game.

Wow, and here I thought that CS was dropping in popularity. Guess I was wrong, sounds like it is still going strong.

Indeed, However the creators will have to come up with
something new very soon now. Gameplay will eventually win
from graphics, Half Life Graphics are outdated and the Gameplay
of CS isn't exactly new anymore, Even though it was a break-
through in the beginning.
