I've been thinking that the 'Home' page would be better if we had more information .. like interesting news.

i just wanted to toss around the idea of appointing a few members who could post news articles and links to the news source. it doesn't have to be everyday, .. but if we get a few members who would be into posting news a couple times a week, we could make codenewbie a more interesting place to visit. ( especially the front page )

we could assign users a specific topic. . . for example: if we gave our moderators the access to post news, they could just post news on their topic of moderation since they specialize in that topic.

right now it's just an idea, and i'd have to build an interface for this, but would anyone be interested?

I like that idea too. I was noticing to that the front page doesn't get updated nearly as much as the forum. I usually have my nose in everying from linuxtoday to CNN all day long so I would love to help out by posting stuff that I find or passing it on to whoever does the posting.

Hmm, just to bump this item.
But how's it comming along? Are we supposed to post some news on the "home" page? Is it possible with the admin/mod structure as it is now? Or was it just a wakeup call, to see who actualy cared about the "home" page ?

I've noticed the admin/mod identification with bold and italic hasn't returned, so my guess is, this is still an issue thats undergoing some developing.
