Referals

When you look at person's info you can see number of referals. What are referals and what are they used for? Im just a bit curious.

um...

When I've seen referals on other sites it will be something people do when they sign up. It works like this if a tells b about the site and b signs up, when b is signing up there will be a text box asking if anyone refered b to the site. If b types in a's username or whatever required information then a gets some kind of bonus from the site. Unfortunately I don't know of any bonus that could be given to people at codenewbie other than just being a rockin' dude for having refered people.

In short it's used to hand out little prizes for getting more people to sign up because then the site can get more money from advertisers and just generally have more users.

her name was maxine, she was someone who did some adverts for me and has since moved to maine. the refer's so far as of now looks like this...
