The post-your-PC thread
Here's my 2.5:
1: (built last week )
P4 2.40GHZ (home built)
Asus P4PE\L Mobo
Radeon 9700 pro
120GB WD HDD
512MB ram
48x Lite-on CDRW drive
Soundblaster Live 5.1 PCI sound card
Windows XP home,
surround sound speakers and subwoofer
It was all worth it just to get away from windows ME.
2: Hp P3 1GHZ,
128MB RAM,
Geforce 4 MX420 vid card,
WinME/redhat 7.2 dual boot.
Pile of crap. When it dies, I'm going to drive into an open field and give it the Office space special...
2.5: My programming PC. P166, 56MB ram, 3 gig hdd. I managed to break a bios expansion card last week and now it won't boot into windows. It was actually pretty nice but I don't have any room for it now anyways. It's memories live on inside computer #2 though

My main box : baradur
Asus P4PE/L mainboard
w/ broadcom LAN & onboard sound
P4 2.53 gHz proc
1GB 2700 333 DDR RAM
Abit Siluro ti4200 GF4 128MB graphics
(1) 40GB 7200 WD HDD (boot / OS drive)
(2) 80GB 7200 8mb cache WD HDD in RAID-0
Promise Fasttrak 2000 PCI RAID card
Sony DRU-500AX DVD/CD burner
Toshiba 16x DVD/CD-ROM
Aver PCI video capture card
All gingerly installed into a CoolerMaster ATC case w/ an Antec TruePower 430W PS.
All hardware works nicely under Linux.
Performance is very nice.
CoolerMaster case keeps everything VERY cool, all aluminum case works very well to wick away heat, could use a better HSF for the proc.
This is basically a multimedia / DVD box that I just happen to run Linux on and do my everyday email / web browsing stuff also. I'm considering building a very small MicroATX box (or even one of those even smaller boxes...PicoATX?) for just linux / web browsing and such.

Yeah, it even booted on the first try when I put it together. That was a nice surprise . and Newegg.com was great.
I refer to it as
"The screamin' Eagle".

ICC:
Asus P4PE/L mainboard with broadcom LAN and onboard sound

66GB Western Digital HDD
1GB RAM
ATI Rage 128MB graphics card
Sony 52X CD-ROM drive (No burner or DVD, only on laptop )

Awesome Altec Lansing Speakers with a HUGE subwoofer
This is all in a plain white display case with three (cant remember) fans. I have never had any problems and all hardware is sweet! (works perfect) Under Linux

So far, the P4PE\L is looking like a popular choice . My only complaint about it is the faulty(?) temperature probe. With stock heatsink and fan, no overclocking, and excellent case airflow, i get temps of 36C idle, 49C load. I'm hesitant to overclock it because knowing the actual temperature is essential to that. Has anyone else been having this issue?

AMD AthlonXP 2000+, not overclocked. Can't be bothered.
Some LeadTek m/board.
Integrated sound (really, as long as there's sound, why bother spending hundreds on a standalone card?). It's an SiS 7012.
CNet PRO200 PCI Fast 10/100 Ethernet network card.
Some brand geForce 4 MX440SE, 64 MB.
256MB DDR SDRAM
Samsung SP4002H UltraDMA100 40GB HDD
Mitsubishi 52x CDROM
LiteOn 48x24x48x CDRW
Samsung Keyboard
Logitech Optical Mouse
Microsoft Strategic Commander
Dual WinME/Win2000P
I think that's everything...
[Edit]Nyargh, how could I forget... 17inch Velta Monitor.
Updated the list with manufacturers et al, too.

Alright
1. I checked the fans (asked my dad :p) I was wrong. I have the "standard" setup with four fans.
2. OS - Slackware 8.1, I may Install OpenBSD tomorrow..if I can find the install CD
Ilya.

He also wrecked your CD-RW drive by running a warez train of burning CD's and selling them :p jkjk..
But really, 100 CD's a day is just a little suspicious.
Ilya.
P.S. On the phone? What happened? Why were you like "someone's here I gotta go".?
