Cyber-Terrorism

Hey Guys,

I am doing Model U.N. and I chose the sixth committee for the country Hungary (If you dont know what U.N. is, dont even bother reading this, go here) Anyways, one of the topics I was hoping to do for the sixth committee was Cyber-Terrorism...I was looking around google and Yahoo but I couldnt really find any information about Hungary and Cyber-Terrosrim..Yes, I also know that some of you think that Cyber-Terrorism is B.S. but what can you say... Anyways, I was wondering if any of you had heard anything about any kind of problem in Hungary related to Cyber-Terrorism or even Terrorism in general. Ok, thats all for now...

Thanks,

Ilya.

I doubt anything is happening in Hungary at all! :-P. But I doubt "Cyber-terrorism" as it's just another of those terms....

Actually, something is happening.

Recently, Hungary has tightened its lawas concerning H/CRacking. If you even try to hack, you can be sent to prison! This law is unfair and unbalanced. For example, some one who DoS's a server will get only as much as someone who trys to hack! This is a little week but I will try to work it. :p

model U.N!

I was a debater in high school I loved it. In fact I was a debater in college until my grades started sucking and I needed to stop. I've done model U.N once and it was fun if not very productive. It wasen't a real tournament or competition it was just for fun so that was probably why.

ah forensics... I must be the biggest geek in the world.

Model U.N.:

You choose a country and a committee dealing with different Issues. You write a resolution accodring to what committee you are on. The resoloution states a problem and a soloution. You go to a three day all day, during school, conference. You debate the topic and the soloution. That is what Model U.N.

get caught doing what?

You're assuming that they're using a fair model of what hacking is. If you just want to play DVDs on your computer and write a program to do so should that be illegal? Thats (partly) what started the DMCA problems. Saying "if you are dumb enough to get caught then you deserve what you get." is all fine and dandy until you get caught for something that shouldn't be illegal.

Computer crimes and the damage they do are greatly over exaggerated. Marginalizing those who get caught and calling them dumb for something that shouldn't be illegal is shortsighted, maybe someday it will happen to you and you'll understand.

Resolution

Ok guys, I have finally wrote my resolution, here it goes :

Sixth Committee
Session XXVI
Republic of Hungary

Columbian Terrorism

The General Assembly,

Aware of recent worldwide terrorist attacks,

Alarmed at the mass number of terrorists occupying the Republic of Columbia,

Noting with grave concern the amount of civilians kidnaped and killed by terrorists on a regular basis,

1. Stresses that Columbian President Alvaro Uribe crack down on terrorist militants, such as the group FARC that attacked his inauguration party;

2. Calls upon the U.N. to send in peace keepers to defend the terrorist targeted civilians;

3. Urges nations to aid Hungary in the funding of this process;

4. Expresses the hope that Nations will be able to work together and provide a peaceful resolution to this problem.

he was obviously pointing out that "hackers(the media definition)" and some one that does a DOS get the same sentence and i think thats fine, unlawful entry into any area be it a computer system or breaking into someones house is wrong and those who do those things should be punished. and as for being able to play dvds thats a totally different area which is tinkering with something the YOU bought and now OWN so you should be able to do what you want with it. its true the dmca goes too far but the original discussion was about haxoring into computers.
