hi all i came to this site since another forum I'm a mebmer of couldn't help me.
im not to sure where to post this so im sorry if its in the wrong place.

i want to code a simple program that will allow me to check my emails, Hotmail, gmail and display the number of emails in each inbox and to alert me when a new email arives, the reason i want to code it is because i don't like to use third party apps while they are all good and all i just want something custom.

i don't know which language to learn for this so i would be most grateful if someone could sujest one i do know some VB but not alot

To me, that sounds like a job for Perl. It's easy to learn and it has the wonderful CPAN site, with a lot of libraries for connecting to web APIs and that sort of thing.
