X10 .. security???

So I've purchased a few x10 light switches and things lately for my home automation project, and the more I learn about it, the more I wonder if it poses a security issue.

For example, I could theoretically go plug in my laptop to someone's power outside, and turn out all their lights or whatever other power sources they had. If they were using X10 as their security, I could easily disarm it. If they hooked up their garage door, I could easily loop through the house codes and open it.

Heck, I wouldn't even really need a laptop, just an x10 controller device plugged into the house. Maybe not even that if they are using the RF transceivers.

Now I don't think x10 houses are that incredibly common, and maybe not likely a burglar would target it, .. but it just makes me wonder.

Seems like if you use this technology for anything more than a couple lights, you should also block all access to any electrical source from the outside.

Does X10 have any sort of authentication built into it? If not, you're right, that is pretty unsecure.
