Hmm.. never thought it would, www is a subdomain to the primary domain, like web/download/whatever would be, so why make it rank higher....
Lets make a small search, shall we..
We have
MIT which is gracious enough to provide us with
www.mit.edu,
web.mit.edu and
mit.edu which is exactly the same...
http://www.google.com/search?q=MIT
What do you know,
web.mit.edu ranks higher than any other...
Guess it dosn't matter, or perhaps it's because they've had
web.mit.edu long befor they pointed
www.mit.edu in the same direction.
But if you specify it a wee bit, like:
http://www.google.com/search?q=MIT.edu it won't show you any subdomains.
Yet
on Yahoo it will rank www higher, but that could be their policy, because
on MSN it's the same result as google.. And the same
with ask.com...
Guess that only goes to show you can't rely on it as ranking higher... Just because everyones uncle thinks
the web is spelled www Shess, I think I'm gonna bann everyone entering my domains via www And make it.. youll-never-guess-this-entry.domain.com
