Blame Einstein, Firefox, or Flash?

ok, I have a little game I play every now and again called spacerunner (www.karn.nu/spacerunner.html) anyway, its flash based. When I play the game, I often notice its markedly faster or slower. Is This:

Einstein? just me being stupid and relative?

Firefox? Does firefox hae some weird flash rendering problem?

Flash? Is flash's speed settings set directly into cpu render such that if your com is under load then the flash animation run slower?

Any combination and/or other explanation?

What operating system are you running? I know that Flash has a tendency to run a bit slower when the OS is Linux as opposed to Windows.

Do you change anything when it runs faster or slower?

Im running XP, and I think (but havent checked) that Im running more stuff when its going slower, but I havent checked just yet
