| We've been through a number of technologies over the years but have found that Java is the best solution to work with our IBM midrange servers.
JDBC is the only web technology fast enough to make web apps tollerable when communicating to the DB2 database on the IBM.
The web apps are both internal and external. The internal application is used by a product support department of about 25 users, and misc other people in the company. It is used to log/track customer problems, register products, create public help files, and other product support related tasks.
The external interface primarily so customers can register, search the knowledge base, and register products. Another company takes care of the rest of the website that doesn't relate to our client data.
It is a really great company to work for, great benefits, 401k plan, and a nice environment to work in. It does however require you to be on-site in south Los Angleles. ( city of commerce ) .. about a 45 minute drive from orange county or other areas in los angeles.
