forum review / suggestions

i've been thinking about the forums lately and wanted to ask for some input.

do you guys see any need for any new forums? i was thinking about an apache web server forum. maybe there are other things of that sort which could use their own forum?

any other suggestions?

How about a place for people to post cool, geeky links? I don't know how popular it'd be, but if it took off it'd be really cool. Can never have enough resources.

Oh, sorry to double post, but I just had another idea. I've been messing around with content management systems lately, so the thought of a forum devoted to those sort of systems (PHP-Nuke, PostNuke, or even just message boards like vB) might be interesting. I'm not sure there'd be enough demand for it, but it's an idea.

hmm .. geek links is a great idea. maybe somewhere in a control panel area you can add your favorite links, .. then there will be a master geek links page with everyone's submissions.

i'd have to think of a way to prevent link spammers though.

I like the Apache idea, except I think it should be part of a more generic group, possibly similar to the "Everything SQL" one. Maybe you could lump it in with Tomcat, JBoss, Other Application Servers?

Geek links also sounds good. Categorizing them might also be a problem, assuming you got a large number of them anyway.

Ditto on the generic apache-like group. I guess I'd stick an apache question under the linux/bsd forum, but it might be nice to have an area. Maybe with some config/mod_rewrite tutorials and such.
