multiple ip addys on a linksys wrt54g?

i got new dsl service with 2 static ips. can i configure my router to use both of those ips? i just want one ip to forward to my linux server.

it would be nice to do it through the router, but if not, would i be best off just hooking up a hub before the router?

I have the Sveasoft firmware upgrade, and with that you can do things like set static routes and assign static IP addresses internally, so it should work. However, I'm not familiar enough with networking principles to know how to do it.

Barring that, however, yes; putting in a switch or hub before the router would work too.

I have the same router, I'm looking at my admin page now and it doesn't look like you can. You can set a static IP for your ISP but doesn't look like you can set 2. I'd go for a switch or hub in front of the router (pref. a switch). Then set a static IP on your Linux machine, and use the other static IP on your router.

thanks. sorry be, i missed your reply initially. i ended up going with the switch and it works fine. it would be slick to do the firmware upgrade, but i also like the current firmware because i can shell in and modify settings with the linux hack.

You can do that with the Sveasoft upgrade as well. In fact, you can SSH in.
