Hmm, yes nice ride. I'm eyeing one of those Mazda 6 types at the moment. As for your radar question, most cops here in Florida use damn trigger hawks. So when your detector goes off it's too late. I started using a CB and call for a smokey or bubble gum light report. Haven't gotten a speeding ticket in twelve years since.

A lot of the truckers on I-10 say that the troopers lights look like bubble gum machines, so they call them bubble gum lights or gumball machine lights. I've even heard names like: pack of wolves, full grown wolf, bear, smokey, chips, badge, stiff brim, Mr. cuffs, tickets, pen clicker, etc...
I'm sure there are a ton of nick names out there. I only made the association when a trucker said he "done put my quarter in a gumball machine, so now he wants me to stop for my prize."
Cool thing about a CB is that you can get a mile marker or exit number reference so you can keep hauling tail until you are almost on them.

aah .. sounds cool. hopefully you won't run into one that a trucker doesn't report.

my radar detecter worked well last night. a cop sitting on the side of the freeway where 2 of them merge .. i had about a mile warning.

Neat thing about CB is depending on its' wattage you can get any where from a 3 to 10 mile heads up on a cop. I usually hang out on channel 19, but channel 25 and 34 are your corporate truckers (usually) and they are a bit more pleasant to talk to. On 19 you will usually come across some drunk whining about his wife or another drunk that's so blitzed even he can't figure out what the heck he's talking about.

Oops, sorry I noticed I skipped the beginning statement sde. It's just like programming, there's that one wildcard varible that shows up when you least expect it. Speed limits around I-10 run around 60 to 70, I average between 80 to 90, occasionally pushing a tad past 100 on a clear day. But having no ticket in 12 years, that's gotta say something.
