I work as a System Admin/Analyst/Programmer/Multimedia Developer & DBA for a Non-proftit Adoptiona & Foster care agency in Phoenix AZ.
When I started they had never had a fulltime IT person. So I have my hands full cleaning up old problems and working on new projects at the same time. Oh my offical title is IT Coordinator.

Well at least I don't get borded, or stuck in a rut doing the same thing every day.

path less traveled

Howdy, I am a 18 year old geek wannabe.
Just finished HS, where I wasnt motivated at all. In 27 days from today IM going to start my Transfter Degree in CS at a local Community COllege.

Sometimes I play around with my weapon of choice - Python. I got to the level where Im familiar with the built in libraries, object types and few methods. So now Im looking forward to starting college for further guidelines

Congrats on the PhD Redhead!! Last I really talked to you, you were still working on your dissertation.

Idx. I take it you work with IDX as well?

I work at a hospitial doing crap, and doing stupid simple things computer related, as well as run a buisness repairing/upgrading/building/securing PCs and Macs. I'm about to Finish my Associates in Comp Info Tech, and then going on to my Bachelor's and Master's in Comp Sci (Just wanted the programming out of CIT and aviod CIS all together).

heh, oddly enough no. Completely unrelated on the name.

We used to have DecRad, now HBOC STAR (..and a ton of others) although I don't work on those these days. CMHC for me.

Right on. That's probably a good thing. Even though we use it a lot(and have for a longer time than needed), our User App Specialists (Transcription Dept Techs) really complain about it a lot.

Well there is still that, the dissertation will be final at the beginning of february, or atleast I hope.
The latest news on that, is I faked a backinjury, but my doctor wouldn't buy it, so now I have a proclamation with the draftboard, that I'm getting too old for them to be useful.
It should be decided in february, and I hope they will come to their sences..
Othervise I'll go balistic and tell them, the only thing I ever dreamed of, was to get in the army and kill as many as I possibly can.

I know I might offend someone on this board with my view on millitary service, actualy I have nothing against anyone who want to serve their country, it's just that I would personaly do anything I can to avoid the serving part.
I dont see that much good comming out of a group going into service with an atitude of beeing hostile towards the concept itself. So why not let them do their bussiness and you wont be bothered.

HAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!!

Sorry to hear the fake didn't work. Maybe next time you should take up hardcore skateboarding until you get a real injury.

It understandable to want to avoid it. You are getting past the average age to enlist anyways (As am I). They must really want your knowledge to be put into military use. Yes?

Oh yeah. Guess I forgot that. I'm a total Code Newbie. Never done coding in a work environment. I only know the basics of C, RISC/MIPS ASM, Shell Scripting, and a little bit of C++ .NET. I couldn't code my way out of a wet paper sack. Total n00b.

Know how ya feel on the military Redhead; I'm in it, want out of it (well, at least my current career field), and (sadly) will probably re-enlist as the job market is rather horrid.
What do I do in simple terms: I'm a mechanic that fixes and maintains equipment that crew chiefs use to fix and maintain aircraft. Go airforce :-P
May Kerry lose the election and may Bush find some common sense.

I haven't heard anyone sum up the election more succinctly.
