Sorry, but I think it's time to resurrect this thread.

For the past 4 month I've been commited to the hospital, with a crushed right fibula/tibia (for those who dosn't understand the lingo)
In my situation, this means 4 spiral transverse fractures to my right fibula/tibia, or a crussed right lower leg, four fractures to every bone in it. With a following fixating of the leg through an Ilizarov fixator
At this point I'm gratefull that it's about time to lose the fixator, but during the time Ive spend with the fixator I've been missing support from my workplace aswell as from anyone I've been involved with.

The most disturbing situations I've withnissed was with the commune that still dosn't recognize my case as an injury.

Sorry you might not understand, since you life in the UK/US/etc. but here after 4 months of missing work due to sickness you need to have a decisive conversation with the commune in order to validate if you should bee deemed on welfare for the rest of your life, or if it's just a percentage of your work efford that you've lost.

For the past month I've been trying to tell them that after january 19.th. I am 100% active at work once again, and my employee expect so, but they wont take no for an answer, and even tho nomatter what I tell them I wont gain any support support them, they want to have a meeting with me on monday the 21.st of december in order to make sure I will return to work after tuesday the 19.th of January.

Oh, and to think of it, since I've been deamed unable to work, I've been sugested a higher position in the company...

To sum it up faily quick, I've smashed my leg on september the 19.th, have been in the hospital till december the 12.th is supposed to lose the fixator tuesday the 19.th of january, and the commune are stirckt on regualtions and wants me to turn up for a work evaluation on december the 21.st in order to evaluate if I've might be cripled for life, even tho I beleve I will return to work after teh january the 19.th and my work also think so, since they've offered me a higher possition starting january the 1.st

Ah man, sorry to hear about that. How did you smash your leg?

Good luck with everything working out getting back to work, and more importantly, a speedy(er) recovery. I'd imagine that could drive a man nuts being laid up for that long.

Keep us updated.

In Germany day say "Hals- und Beinbruch" a.k.a. "break a leg" for "Good Luck".
You get a higher position by breaking your leg? That does define "break a leg" by two!

Anyway, goodluck and prosper healing!

I cant stress it enough, never ever injur yourself the way I did, it's simply not worth the recovery.

I was playing socker, engaging in a tackle, the next thing I knew was seeing the ball disappearing beneeth the opponents strewtchout leg, it was approaching my shin, and next thing I knew he stepped on my lover leg while my body was still traveling FORWARD, resulting on a 90 degree twist of my lower leg which according to the parametic left my tibia in a 'W' shape.
Once the ambulance arrived, the first comment was, the parametics wouldnt touch me unless there had been a doctor to reasure the leg would be repossitioned in the right turn.

So I spend another 40 minuts waiting for someone making the final decision on what would become of my leg.

And at this point I still suffor with 2 - 3 hours of agony every night where the repositioning of nerve tissue, bone structure, muschle tissue and the like leaves me awoken and coursing my missfortune.

DjMaze.

I know about the hals und BEIN BRUCH, in german lingo, I must say the later part I've tried, an I wouldn't recomment it to anyone.
Not even my worst enemies...

If you want to see what my leg looks like at the moment, I'm writing an article on Wikipedia about the fixator, altho it's not entirely finished.
