I am a college student for the most part, trying to obtain a BS in Computer Engineering. Right now I'm doing a 6-month internship at NASA Ames Research Center, which is nice. During the schoolyear I'm the sysadmin of the CS Lab at my school, while during the summer I am an intern at a local robotics company. While I am there I do web programming for an internal parts/finance/other management system and other stuff they need done.
I have lots of projects I work on at night, and probably will never finish because I can't seem to finish anything.

Hmmm, I'm a 19yo unemployed nothing that enjoys messing around with PHP and other languages. I spent two years in HS taking a cheezy MCSE Cert. prep course that was a total waste of time, I also took two years of Visual Basic programming which was nice. Unfortunately I knew more about Visual Basic than the teacher so I didn't learn a whole lot.
I spent summer this year working in an I.T. dept where I learned through experience with other employees that computer knowlege is not a pre-requisit for any job in the company. I may have some web design/maintenance contract work coming up, and I'm looking into taking some Comm. College classes this winter. That about sums it up I think

Howdy. I just turned 21 and am currently in a community college working on a general transfer degree after I found out the CS program I was in wouldn't transfer to most four year schools. I'm planning to major in CS again after I've got that finished, and I'm still taking a few programming classes along the way for fun. I've had a year of C and a year of C++ in high school but don't remember a whole lot of it, except that I got far enough to be able to program a text-based poker game. I've had a semester of pseudo-assembly stuff and learning how the hardware works and a semester of Perl, which seemed kinda worthless 'cause we didn't get near as far into it as we did in C. (I was able to slack off and do all 13 of the coding projects in the last 2 days of the class.) Rock on.

Wow I'm like the only one here with absolutely no formal computer science training... right now I'm finishing up a degree in Animation. I started teaching myself perl 3 years ago, and have since taught myself lisp, ruby, and php. Libraries are cool. You guys can check out the website/cms I designed at www.scaddistrict.com.

Nope. Nothing formal here. Just a chunk of time and experience.

Well, my current career changed a month ago (reason I've been AWOL). I'm now working for a local company as a BSD Architect, and Security Analyst. I now build various security solutions for companies in the tri-state area. Most of the integrations are OpenBSD Firewalls, IPsec Concentrators/Clients, and Active IDS. Sure is a lot better than my last job, but less time on CN now.

Programmer of all trades I suppose. I went to school for digital design. Picked up programming 'cause there was more money in it, and I turned out to be a little better at it than design. ;-)
