Well, you do what you can. I personally don't have the option to run something 24/7 here at home with my DSL connection (768/128) so I got the cheapest virtual host I could find with PHP/SQL capability. If I had a little more flexible bandwidth I'd run a linux server myself.

i pay $0 for my personal site and i think $120 annualy for my clients sites. i know there is cheaper hosting but you dont get shell, php, mySQL or have the admins cell phone number, hehe.
