What're you reading?
Part of being a geek is learning, which (most of the time) means at least *some* reading. What's on your nightstand?
Currently, i'm reading:
- The Art of Unix Programming by ESR
- ANSI Common Lisp by Paul Graham

Core Java 2 Vol 1: Fundamentals (Horstmann / Sun)
PHP Anthology vol 2 (Fueckes / Sitepoint)
(and if the nightstand includes PDF documents)
Thinking in Java - Bruce Eckel
'How to Think Like a Computer Scientist - Learning with Python' version
I usually read 3 or 4 books at once, one I take in and read on my lunch hour, and the others I'll read in the eves before bed or when I get stuck or need some inspiration, usually.

I have:
Developing and Implementing Web Applications with VB.NET
Developing XML Web Services and Server Components with VB.NET
Developing and Implementing Windows-based Applications with VB.NET
SQL Server 2000 Database Design and Implementation
.NET Solution Architectures
Am studying for my MCSD in .NET if you didn't figure that out.
Am getting read to take:
Developing and Implementing Web Applications with VB.NET
As soon as I can pass the test on the cd. Only taken it once...it asked more questions about XML (my weakest area) than I care to answer.

Linux System Administration and PHP and MySQL for the Web. And every so often I go back over chapters of Effective Perl Programming and Dynamic HTML in Action.
I have a big shelf in my bookcase for only computer books, and I would say I use about half of them pretty regularly for reference. I love my books. That's how I learned virtually everything I know, starting about 10 years ago.

I'm not reading any 'books' per se right now, but I do read online a lot for tips on different things I want to do. For instance, right now I am reading stuff on PHP, as I would like to learn it. Furthermore, I read a lot on CSS techniques and such, so I can get better with tableless layouts and such.

I just finished upgrading an Oracle certification (used study software mostly) and getting a Java certification (used "Complete Java 2 Certification Study Guide"). I'm a little geeked out, so I've been re-reading an old novel - "The Man Who Heard Too Much" by Bill Granger. It's no longer in print, but a good espionage read that's part of series. I've always wanted to learn something about EJBs, so "Mastering Enterprise Javabeans" is my next techie project.
I'll also be reading the want ads for a while. My job is moving sometime around October and I've decided not to move with it.

Ha! Trust me, you don't want the job. :-) But there probably will be a job opening.

You mean 'Angels & Demons', right? IMHO it's his best offering, although DaVinci Code was also pretty good. I have everything he's done.
