New Digital Camera

my old sony (p5) broke ... costs to repair : 360 euro

finally have a reason to buy a new one !

will buy a sony again .. canon is a very close second on my list .. but i have some sony stuff already which would increase the price of the canon if i would have to buy the same stuff again

i narrowed my list down to the sony dsc-v1 ... but last week i went to a shop i hadnt been yet .. and now i am pondering again

sony dsc-v1
sony dsc-t1
sony dsc-w1

the t1 is small! ... requires another accu though and the lense isnt as good as the v1 .. the reviews i read on the web showed quite some people who werent satisfied with the quality of the pictures

the w1 is new .. will be in the shops soon (i hope) .. cheaper ... non-metal case .. where the v1 has a metal case

the v1 and w1 are about the same size i think .. but i know very little about the quality of the w1 .. and if it can do everything the v1 can do

i will be using it a lot while traveling so i dont want to be it too big (t1) or too heavy (t1/w1 ?) .. but i want to play with it a lot as well and make a lot of pictures .. starting to make it my hobby .. which would make buy the v1 ?

does anyone have any opinions about this ?

i mainly based my choice on the info from http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/ and http://www.steves-digicams.com/ and http://www50.shopping.com/xPP-Digita...kin_id-3053120 and some info from the people in the shops i visited

hmm wanted to add a poll .. forgot .. and failed to do it later on

did you also have a sony ?

i never had a canon

the reviews of the v1 are very positive ... the reviews about the canon of the same price are positive as well .. although when people compare the 2 then the lense of the sony is better and the quality of pictures with little light (without flash) as well

but i like the turnable lcd screen of the canon

if you would have to pick one of those 3 sony cameras .. which would you pick ?

will be using it on holidays (first holiday with my last (first digital) camera i shot 400 pictures in 1 week of rome, last holiday i shot 1000 pictures in 2 weeks fo egypt) ...

will always be carryig it with me to work and on my bike when i am using my back-bag (too small to call it a backpack )

will make some pictures with it at work .. will often stop while riding my bike to work and make a picture if i see something nice
(riding through the countryside at sunrise & sunset times)

i guess i will make about 3000 pictures a year .. but thats a rough estimation .. played with the settings on my last camera .. not very advanced .. plan to do that a bit more .. might become my hobby
