Hi, I recently started hosting with a brand new host, http://d2hosting.com . I've been hosting there for about 2 months now, and so far I would have to say it is the best host that I have ever used. There hasnt been any downtime, their servers are very fast, and their hosting plans start from as low as $2 a month, custom plans are also available.

$2 a month? What kind of quality can you expect for that? Furthermore, how do these hosting companies make money at that rate?

I pay $140 a month for a dedicated machine and I can host as many sites as I want out of it, plus I have root access.

some people don't have the skillz to run a dedicated server, ... although it does give you lots of flexibility.

i use both services.

i run game servers off a dedicated box, however i can't depend on myself to keep a server up all the time, so for sites which are important, such as this one, i use www.vilitas.com . by far the best up-time i've ever experienced with any hosting company.

for the game server, we own our own and just co-locate it though. only $100/mo for 1000gb of traffic.

I believe it's called penetration pricing. I can see why you would say that and it's actually something I thought about before going with them, but I've had nothing but good service from them.
