Streaming Media Download
Hi Guys,
Does anyone know of an app or a way to download streaming media(either windows, linux, or fbsd)?
I need to download some streaming ram files but dont know of any utilities to help me do it.
Thanks
Ilya

do you mean to actually play the file? or just download it?
if it's just a download, and you know the file path and name, then just make your own html page so you can save target.
Code:
<a href=http://path/to/file.rm>click here to download</a>

I thought that it was a streaming file that requires the server to be up to play...
I guess I didnt understand how rm files work...
Thanks

streaming media
i always get this wrong .... RM files are the ones which play off your hard disc (like MP3s or WAVs) ... RAM files are the ones which play off an internet connection.
If you really meant that you wanted to
stream
music you can make up your own RAM files...e.g. you could make a file called MEDLEY.RAM simply containing the names of the source files and keep this on hard disc or upload it to your server if you want real streaming play.....
http://www.yourdomain.net/music/G_String.mid
http://www.yourdomain.net/music/TheStranglers.swf
http://www.yourdomain.net/music/LayA...eOnMe-ABBA.mp3
http://www.yourdomain.net/music/Were...-JohnnyCash.rm
You need to have RealPlayer onboard to play this but as you can see you're not restricted to RM or RAM files.
You can do a similar thing with Flash (
SWF
files)
