you probably already know, but if you can, try to avoid using splitters for the line that goes to your modem.

Not sure, but isn't this a bit expensive compared to other modern states/countries?

well, i think i miscommunicated sorta.

your house obviously has to have some sort of splitters to route cable to all the rooms .. but i suppose i mean the less splitters, the better.

for example, .. if you have a line routed to your office, .. try not to split the signal before it gets to your modem.

i guess it goes for all electronics, audio, video, etc .. the less connectors in the way that could possible compomise the connection, the better.

Oh i see. I removed the one and only splitter and didn't measure any performance increase. But more splitters might be an interesting case.

Dunno, I live here, not there. Unfortunately I'm limited to taking the service in my area. =)

When I called my local ISP to disconnect, I talked with the guy there for a bit, he mentioned other DSL service in the area, it was around $53. monthly.

The cable service I just had connected isn't too bad; right now I guess they're changing alot of the system around and upgrading so speeds are slow, but soon to be much more stable; got this info from two sources: dslreports.com forum and a guy I know that worked for Adelphia and has Adelphia cable access also.

To answer sde regarding line splitters; there isn't much I can do about that either. If the line has to be split to come into the house and then split again to connect to my cable box and modem, them's the breaks. I'm getting around -11db download power from the line, I understand that's not too bad, although could be better of course. I've got one of the high-quality line splitters made by the people that make Monster Cable, gold contacts and all that crap. Plus I threw out the 25' line Adelphia gave me and got a good quality 12' line for the modem. All I can do.
