Log onto some irc server you want the channel to be hosted on ie:
irc.oftc.net, irc.freenode.net, etc.
then register your nickname ie:
/msg nickserv register <your password>
From now on you need to identify you with nickserv every time you connect to the server ie:
/msg nickserv identify <password>
Now create the channel you want to have ie:
/join #my_channel
if it dosnt exist you're instantly become mod in it
(Chanserv change mod your_nick +o for #your_channel)
Then to keep it, you need to tell chanserv it's your channel, this is done by:
/msg chanserv register #your_channel <password>
And now all you have to do is connect and visit your channel a few times a month, to keep chanserv happy and remain the
founder of the channel.
When needing to change some settings on your channel, you need to issue:
/msg chanserv identify #your_channel <password>
Then you can set what ever you want..
It migth enlighten a few things, if you used:
/msg chanserv help
and
/msg nickserv help
Just remember to have flood protection turned off.
