Talking Hardware

Yo yo, What up fellows?
Anyone know anything about basic installation stuff i should know about but dont? I Bought a Burner and opted to install it myself.
Its a Liteon LTR40125W but thats not whats important. What is, is that when i removed the individual casings at the front, theres a metal casing thats been welded in place. I tried bashing it with a butter knife, Then trying a Blowtorch of my own but then it started to make a loud Screaming noise so i stopped :th: Am i boned or can i remove this somehow? There are some screws but they are really the more bolt kind, not the kind i could use a screwdriver on.

Thnx

*scratches head*
usually the metal plates behind the plastic ones on the case pop out with a little manipulation with a screw driver.

The jumpers to be set is the ones setting it to master/slave/cable selct
usualy this is default to cable select so no need to worry, it'll probably fit in with no changes.

IDE is the interface, it's the cable connecting it to the motherboard (harddisk/cdrom/cdrw), you can have 2 items connected to each cable, and there are two IDE interfaces on the motherboard, so it's a total of 4 IDE items you can have.

Unless the machine was shiped with only one cable, and you already have harddrive and cdrom connected to this, you'll need a new cable, else there should be sufficient free connectors for you to get the burner installed.

There should be something there that you can pull and re put in place, depending on the setting needed. if you have more than one cd drive, it would be best at slave or cable select.

doesn't it picture so in the manual?
