Router troubles!!!

Hi guys,

I recently set up a router about 2 weeks ago and I am having trouble sharing files with a program called WWW File Share Pro with other people. I know nothing about routers, nor networking, so I really need some help on this!

Ok, my router's IP address is 192.168.0.102:

I am sharing the port on 6969, as seen here:

Now when I give someone a link to the webserver, I have to give them the ip address that my isp gave me and the port number right?

If someone can please tell me what I am doing wrong, it would really help out! Thanks!

192.168.0.102 is an internal ip address ..

www.whatismyip.com

check that page for your external address. usually you will have to give the external address for your friends to log into, .. and then open ports in your router to let them through.

Yea what sde said.......
People cannot connect to your subnetted computer behind your router. They need your internet address and you need to have port 6969 open .

(did I just repeat what sde said ?)

oops.. yer right =)

on my router there is another parameter i have to uncheck that is 'block incoming wan requests' before it will let anyone in.

not sure about yours though,

make sure you can hit the localhost:6969 and then make sure that you still have the same external IP. Also make sure that your ISP isnt blocking incomming requests to your network (most will block only certain ports though).

From the looks of it, your router is the internal gateway IP of 192.168.0.1 and your internal DHCP requests start at the .100 range. It looks like you've enabled the virtual server to point from your external IP to the internal IP of the box. Looks ok to me as long as the virtual server is actually pushing through (which ive had a problem with it not doing before)
