network

this is weird, .. i can ping outside addresses from my new debian install, .. but i can't retrieve anything with apt-get, wget, ftp or anything .. it's like i can send info out, .. but it won't let anything in.

where do i look to fix this? i'm setup static on my local network behind my router.

when i do a "wget somedomain/somefile",

i get:

[SHELL]Resolving codenewbie.com .. done.
Connecting to codenewbie.com[65.119.176.162]:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response ...[/SHELL]
then it just hangs.
