Busted Linksys WRT54GT Router??

I dunno what's going on with my router anymore but I think its seen its last days. In my house of 6 students we have 2 routers - mine's configured behind the main router to serve me and my roommate wirelessly (our house it too 'long' to run cable through) and to serve my other roommate through a wired connection. I'm definately in OK wireless range of the router, I've read about wireless ranges and stuff, we have no interferences in between either.

But the routers always acted funny. The 'WAN' light is constantly blinking instead of staying a solid green which I think is the problem. One thing that could indicate to me is a bad wire coming from the the main router upstairs, but I doubt it. My roommate says he returned 2 linksys routers that are similiar (same router basically, not wireless) until he got one that worked. Mine's always seemed a little 'off' and this week its been horrible. My roommates upstairs on the main router are seeing blazing speeds consistently but me and the roomies downstairs can barely hold a connection.

Think its time to bite the bullet and buy a new router?

you are sure they are not on the same frequency? also, have you checked out the 'hack your wrt54g' thread? http://codenewbie.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2199

you may be able to boost the signal of the first router so you don't have to use both.

Have you tried "rebooting" it? Just unplug the power and plug it back in.

I think on Linksys devices you have to push and hold the reset button down with a pen for 10 seconds, and after that, while still holding it down you unplug the DC power from the back. Otherwise the configs stay, and it just power cycles.

Will rebooting it set it back to factory defaults? That would mess some stuff up if it does...

The first routers actually not wireless (although it is linksys).

Rebooting it shouldn't affect settings, resetting it would.
