errors, .. hard drive related?

i leave a non-root user logged on my system usually.

i've gotten a string of errors a couple times now and i don't know what it is.

Code:
EXT3-fs error (device ide0(3,5: ext3_readdir: directory #393657 contains a hole at offset 32760
I get a bunch of messages with different "directory" numbers and at the end it has 1 more message:
Code:
66.188.92.144 sent an invalid ICMP error to broadcast memory.c:117: bad pmd 04000000
does this make sense to anyone else?

shortly after this happened last time, my server crashed and i had to push the reset button to reboot.

these errors got fixed .. it was a perl script for the game server i run that was causing the problems.

the script displays the current players in the game on the gamer-server's website.

i thought i was pretty slick when i hacked the script to play a beep sound wav whenever another user joined the server and the script refreshed every 30 seconds.

either i code perl pretty bad, or i just get too many users camping out on that status page to see who's currently playiing. for every user viewing that page, it is executing the perl script in my cgi bin.

the errors were only on my /www patition, so that's what made me check. everything including my websites on the server run much faster now.
