networking windows and linux problem

Not sure if this is the right spot to post, but here goes.
I'm using a linux box to wirelessly network a linux station and a windows laptop. The linux station is still communicating fine, but I had to reformat my windows laptop thanks to a VERY aggressive spyware program (starware) that refused to be removed even manually in the registry.
Now, I can't get the laptop and linux box to recognize each other. I know the IP's are correct as well as the gateway and workgroup. I even swapped the wireless cards from the linux station and laptop incase I damaged it somehow but no go. What am I missing here?
Also, I forgot where the list is located in linux to allow only certain local IP's access thru the firewall, any hints?
Thanks!

Can you descripe your setup. Are you using an access point or wireless router. What else is in between if anything, the IPs, etc, etc.

Setup is:
From cable modem to linux box lan card eth0

Using linux box as firewall and router with wireless lan card eth1

Then direct wireless to linux station and windows laptop

Hope this helps, lemme know if you need more info.

Thanks!

I'm also wondering if there is a firewall allow list that only allows specific IP to computer names access. I set up the system a year ago and can't remember what the heck I did.
