Alas! This should revive the Debian spirit some. Potato was really getting old. Too bad I use FreeBSD now...

Woody's just fine thanks.
I had run Debian testing/woody for at least a year prior to the stable release and recently switched over to unstable/sid again. I'm also using FreeBSD.

So is it easier/harder than redhat? Is it user freindly? What are the advantages?

the advantages: NO RPMS!! =)
the general thought is that it is more difficult to install, .. but a litte easier to run. aptitude is great.. you get programs with the program aptitude. you search for a program you want with it, .. then select it. it downloads and installs it for you. much easier to deal with than rpms.

Are the commands and interfaces similar to Redhat 7.3?
Redhat is really all that I know in the world of *nix.
Also, can you use KDE in Debian?

sure .. the stuff you know from redhat will transfer over nicely.
if you are not using linux for anything too crucial, ..and more to learn, .. i would install it .. i would install as many flavors as i could.
that's why i'm getting ready to try bsd in a couple mroe weeks. i hear good things about that too.

I'm almost convinced....
One last question: Does anyone know about configuring a Cable-Modem in Debian? With redhat it was horrible, just insane .
