Free Xserver for Windows running KDM?

Anyone know of a free Xserver for win32 that works with either KDE or Gnome desktops?

cygwin comes with xfree86, and is free. i've had some issues compiling gnome, though i didn't try very hard. it definitely runs remote gnome and kde just fine. unfortunately, the x-server windows are trapped in a single window frame.

exceed is a much better x server for windows (not free, though). faster, and integrates directly with the desktop. it's weird to have your gnome icons right next to your windows desktop icons.

Thanks for the response, Joe. I probably should have mentioned that I'm trying to stay away from both cygwin and vncserver. I need speed on an old laptop and a true xserver (at least one without the overhead of cygwin) is probably my best bet. Vncserver works great on every machine I have except the laptop. I've used Hummingbird Exceed (in fact I'm using it right now at work), Reflection X, etc. I tried Winaxe last night. It works great for both Gnome and KDE, but it's not free...as in $90. I tried Mi/X a long time ago and it sucked. It's only $25, and has a known problem with Gnome. I might give the eval copy another try though.

I know you're looking for free, but I'd say the best bet is to buy a used copy of exceed or reflections on ebay. I bought a boxed version of exceed (with the 40lb book) for $10 or something. It wasn't exactly the newest version, but its nice to have around.

Thanks. I'm not normally an ebay kind of guy, but I might just do that. Of course my wife suggested that I simply replace the laptop. Not exactly the cheap solution I was looking for.
