java/jsp test question ideas

i need to make a little test for job applicants. i'm thinking nothing too difficult or detailed, .. but just enough to prove they can code vs just knowing buzz words with a good looking resume.

it might be a mix of having them code, and then some questions.

1. write a simple class with one private property, and 2 public methods to get and set the value of the property.

(how does that sound?)

I only want them to sit down with a laptop for about 10-15 minutes so nothing too harsh.

Any question suggestions are welcome

Honestly, I'd pick up one of the exam guides for the Sun Certification exam and pick about 20 or so question you think someone off the street ought to know, and ask them. They don't need to use the correct jargon, and you don't need to ask them API specific questions (I hate those), but if they answer in an intellegent manner that should give you an idea.

In addition to exam guide style questions, I like architecture type questions. As in, what app server did you use? Have you ever installed it, etc.? Maybe something about deploying a new webapp. This may or may not be required, but it can help you distinguish between people who have coded in an environment someone else set up, and those who have taken the time to understand a little more about it.
