Script to provide list of suggestions via onChange?

I'm dealing with a form where there are too many possible values for a SELECT drop list, however at the same time I want to direct the user to a value already entered into a MySQL database so that the rest of the site knows how to process the input. Trying to get something similar to the list Facebook's searchbox creates when you type someone's name into it. Searching for tutorials hasn't led to anything on this point; does anyone have any insight into how to make this work?

i believe the feature you're talking about is called autocomplete. i don't have any great insight, but there are some libraries out there which you can work with.

Revisiting this one again; I've managed to strip down the script in the last post to the bare essentials and switch out my own data for the default, but when I try to integrate it with my existing forms it turns out to be incongruous relative to the rest, both because it resizes and because the borders are much further spaced than the default input field height and width. Any suggestions on how to make it work?

Also, if someone can tell me what to strike so it won't tell me that the e-mail field for the data entries is undefined, that would be great, too!
