Javascript AppActivate?

Hi All,

mega newbie here !! - I've done a (little) bit of vbscript but cant use it in this case.

So this is for my fist HTML / Javascript effort

What I would like to know is, in VBScript you can use AppActivate to set the focus to another running process (in this case to send keys to it - not ideal but thats another story)

is there something the same / similar in Javascript as AppActivate

Thanks all

Gary

what are you referring to as 'another process'? and are we talking javascript inside of a web browser?

Hi, thanks for the reply, just to explain a bit more.

I understand that it is possible to code a HTML page to launch an external JS script when a button is clicked so this is what i am aiming to launch it with. If I could find a way that I could launch an external VBScript I'd be happier as I dont seem to be able to code it (in VBS) the same within the HTML file - but like I said I am new at this

I would like the script to select another application (reflections - terminal emulator client) which is connected to our production system. Once it has selected the other application i want it to send a key (F10 - which will launch a macro within the reflections session to copy information from it to the clipboard). and then return to the IE window to paste the info from the clipboard into a text field on the HTML page.

Cheers

Not possible in JavaScript. VBScript is only for IE and in any other browser it will not work.
Anyone who uses IE has no clue about Internet so it should only be your application for some bloated intranet website to control other applications in a very hoex'ed way.

Therefore i think you should just use VBScript and force all your intranet users to use the very insecure IE for it so that it works
Any other browser or language doesn't allow such things and i wonder how long it will take before M$ destroys VBScript.
